Coastal International Security was founded in 1991 and began as a small security firm serving clients up and down the Eastern Seaboard of the United States. Acquired by New Mexico based Akal Global in 2001, Coastal grew to be more than $150M in annual revenue with US Government defense contracts in 25 different US states and internationally. Principally serving the Departments of State and Homeland security, Coastal has sent counter surveillance personnel to 75 different countries in support of ongoing construction of critical infrastructure projects by the US Government. At home, Coastal has secured NASA installations, the Pentagon, and some of the country’s largest federal facilities.

In 2020 Coastal was acquired by a former Akal executive and US Army veteran with the intent of rebuilding Coastal as a veteran owned business. The new Coastal management team brings years of security contracting, law enforcement and Army Special Operations experience. Coastal is headquartered in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
